Electronic platform to receive complaints and inquiries of migrant workers in Kuwait


The Kuwait Society for Human Rights receives inquiries of migrant workers in Kuwait at electronic platform both in Arabic and English in order to respond to their complaints and inquiries about labor laws, ministerial decisions and legal procedures that aim to protect rights. 

The electronic platform contributes to the identification of labor-related problems faced by migrant workers in Kuwait and also contributes to the reduction of these problems by providing periodic recommendations to the competent authorities and working together with the government to protect the rights of migrant workers. 

Through the electronic platform, legal advice can be sought as it will be answered by specialized experts.  It also provides responses to all inquiries of migrant workers about laws and procedures pertaining to labor rights.

The Kuwait Society for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Embassy of Netherlands in Kuwait, launched a hotline and electronic platform service in July 2017. It is currently implementing the second phase, in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), by following up on complaints, resolving them through legal means, monitoring them and issuing international reports,.

During the first phase, the hotline and electronic platform received many complaints, including “cancellation and transfer, passport recovery, claim for financial dues, residence permit cancellation, malicious absence and workplace injuries”, in addition to several other problems faced by migrant workers.
